The Merced Country Arts Council continues its Demand the Arts campaign with “Over the Rainbow for the Arts” fundraiser, featuring live performances by local band Just Friends and Cheryl Lockett.
The event also includes an art auction with works donated by Gloria Coronas, Cheryl Lockett, Karen LeCoq and David Medley.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center.
Gloria Coronas has been a Merced County resident and active in the visual and performing arts since 1974. She plays the keyboard and vocals for the band, Just Friends, at “Over the Rainbow for the Arts,” and is donating one of her paintings for the art auction.
Musician and Merced native Cheryl Lockett is well known in the Central Valley both for her vocal performances and as a teacher of fine art workshops. She will perform at the event, and also donate one of her beautifully painted gords for auction.
Visual artists Karen LeCoq and David Medley will also donate pieces. They held a Valentine exhibit in February at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center.
Advance ticket sales are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors; $20 at the door. For more information contact the Arts Council at (209) 388-1090 or http://www.artsmerced.org.
